Cultura i Conflicte at Lletrescena Festival dedicated to documentary theater
Last weekend we participated in the conversation "The Voice of the Other: Theatre as a Testimony", organized within the framework of the Fifth Edition of the Festival Lletrescena de Teià (Barcelona), this year dedicated to documentary theatre.
The session was moderated by playwright Jordi Casanovas, and was attended by Cristina Clemente, playwright and screenwriter, Carles Fernández Giua, researcher and theatre director, and Teresa Turiera-Puigbó, journalist. Actress Àngels Gonyalons gave several readings of the theatrical texts "Encara hi ha algú al bosc", by Anna Maria Ricart and Cultura i Conflicte, "Nadia", by La Conquesta del Pol Sud and "Dones de ràdio", by Cristina Clemente.
The round table explored the process of collecting real testimonies and transforming them into stage material. What is the playwright's responsibility towards the word of the other? How do you build a dramaturgy based on the voice of others and not on your own imagination?

And here Jordi Casanovas (this year's moderator and curator of Lletrescena) pointed to the fine line between amplifying one voice and spectacularizing the pain of the other." (...)
